A recent scam playing on the successful "iPhone" series of smarphones, and the hype surrounding their impending releases, has been seen on Facebook recently. It follows a similar format to many other spam threads, and though annoying and harmless, it does make the original author extra money in the process.

This scam tricks users into thinking they're going to a web page that has info about the iPhone 5, when really it uses the click-jacking technique. Once you click on the link leading to "greatlakesnews.info", it takes you to another web page and has you put in a captcha. This makes the victims feel safer about the site they're visiting, and makes them continue on. After typing in the word for captcha and submitting it, you will find that posts about this iPhone 5 have been seemingly submitted by you to your Facebook account.

Directly after this has occured, you are asked to complete a survey before proceeding, which if done, will give the owner some extra money.
