Greyhat-Security is Back!!!

Welcome back everyone! After approximately 8 months, Greyhat-Security.com has finally returned! It took us such a long time due to the fact that I'm working and studying pretty much all the time, which makes it more difficult to work on the site, as well as the fact that I had to do two major things:

a) Redesign the entire look of the site, the way it runs, and the server it was running it

b) Filter through all the content to find the well polished articles, and sift out the illegal ones (or rewrite them)

New Approach

To go with the relaunch of Greyhat-Security.com, we're focusing on a new approach to the information we post here. Previously, we had fairly relaxed rules regarding the content of the posts, however, now I'll be enforcing an approach which is significantly less "Blackhat", and significantly more "Professional" or "Penetration Tester" focused - this is primarily because Blackhat Hacking is illegal, and I don't want to be involved in any illegal activities, but also because I believe in that Hacking should be used for the benefit of mankind, not the destruction of it, and hence, Penetration Tests, which help individuals and companies to properly secure their networks and data.

Any articles submitted from now on will either be through the forum or submission forms for "unpriveleged" users, or by applying to become a site author, which gives you the ability to publish your articles without waiting for them to go through the approval process. In this way, I can ensure that we have articles that focus on the website's new goals, as well as ensuring a high quality of layout and formatting in the text, keeping a clean and professional look to the site. We know this might be a pain, but please try and use the best grammar and spelling you can before submitting.

New Features

Obviously, one main feature stands out at the moment - a completely new look. I thought the old look was a bit plain, and we needed a bit of a revamp, and hence, the new look.

Another new feature is that I'm now running the webserver on a dedicated purpose server which I have full control of, and only run this site from, rather than previously where we were on a shared host, which meant no dedicated resources, and no real control over server security. I moved the website onto this dedicated server in the hopes of increasing performance and page load times (which it seems to have done), increasing server security (which I have done), and simply - for the fun of it. It's much more rewarding to look after all aspects of the website, rather than just some.

The forums have been re-designed to integrate to the website frontend - in this way, the users are unified, and everything looks clean, nice, and professional. Alas, it means that all the old posts are gone - however, I did retrieve the best and turn them into articles on here.

Articles - rather than just having forum threads, like previously, we now have regular posted articles (as I mentioned before). This makes everything nicer for everyone.

Still AD FREE! I think this is one thing that sets us apart from a lot of other Security/Hacker websites - we don't force ads upon you! I'm going to try and keep this up for as long as possible, but obviously now that this is running dedicated, it's costing me a heck of a lot more off my own back, so financial support would be appreciated if you can spare it (as I don't wanna have to start using ads and all that icky stuff ). Thanks!

Future Plans

As we develop and people start to return, I will be looking into implementing more features onto the site, for your enjoyment. This includes, but is not limited too:

  • Subscription options for receiving regular downloads unavailable to the general public through partnerships with other sites
  • Possible commission based submissions for articles
  • Affiliate programs, where you can make some money
  • Support options, where you can support us, and still receive a product for the money you spend
  • Rewards, competitions, and rankings

I hope this helps you understand where we've been for the last while, and hope you continue to enjoy the site as much as you used to. It'd be great if you could help spread the word - it's the only way to build community, and with community, knowledge! Feel free to ask any questions. All the best,

-Mr. P
